Meyer Burger (Germany) AG was established in 1990 as Roth & Rau Oberflächentechnik GmbH, before being converted to a public limited company – Roth & Rau AG – in 2001. Since 1 September 2015 we are operating under the name of Meyer Burger (Germany) AG.
In the 1990s, Meyer Burger (Germany) AG mainly developed surface-processing technologies tailored to special requirements of customers in research and industry, applying them in corresponding system concepts.
Driven by strong growth in the photovoltaics industry, for which Roth & Rau has supplied numerous systems for anti-reflex coating of solar cells, the company has also increased in size.
Today, Meyer Burger (Germany) AG consists of the Photovoltaics and MicroSystems (plasma and ion-beam technology) divisions as well as the subsidiaries AIS Automation Dresden GmbH (software), Muegge GmbH (industrial microwave technology) and Meyer Burger (Netherlands) B.V. (coating systems and inkjet printing systems).
Since 2011, Meyer Burger (Germany) AG and its subsidiaries have been part of the global technology company Meyer Burger Technology Ltd, forming the center of expertise for solar-cell technologies in business unit photovoltaics.
