PC-Ware generates first-half revenues of EUR 183 million
Pre-tax profits of EUR 1.05 million
PC-Ware AG has published its financial results for the first half of the
2003/2004 financial year (1 April to 30 September 2003). As the Leipzig-based IT
specialist with pan-European operations announced on 28 November 2003, first-
half revenues amounted to EUR 183 million (same period a year ago: EUR 275
million). Earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortisation
(EBITDA) stood at EUR 2.32 million (same period a year ago: EUR 7.63 million),
while earnings before taxes (EBT) amounted to EUR 1.05 million (same period a
year ago: EUR 5.8 million).
The year-on-year decline in revenues and earnings is mainly the result of non-
recurring effects in the second quarter of the previous financial year. The
introduction of new Microsoft licensing models prompted a software-related
investment boom during the last year, resulting in additional revenue of
approximately EUR 100 million in the first half of FY 2002/2003. Therefore, one
cannot compare the two periods with one another.
The development of the Group’s gross profit margin was particularly encouraging.
It increased from 9.3 per cent to 12.7 per cent compared with the first half of
the previous year. BISON Systems AG, a Swiss company acquired last year, has
been performing very successfully. The system-house specialists achieved first-
half revenues of EUR 18.4 million, thus contributing substantially to the
positive earnings performance of the Group as a whole.
For the second half of the 2003/2004 financial year, the Management Board has
forecasted a moderate progression of business within a strained economic
environment. Recent increases in incoming orders within the area of services,
double-digit growth rates achieved by non-Microsoft standard software, as well
as new proprietary products in the field of Software Asset Management (PC-Ware
inventory), Content Management (PC-Ware in4meta), and eGovernment (eGov Portal
Suite), as well as the recently established subsidiaries for financial services,
PC-Ware Financial Service GmbH and PC-Ware Leasing GmbH, mean further positive
effects.
