Ergo Versicherungsgruppe AG: ERGO plans special dividend due to active capital management
ERGO Versicherungsgruppe AG / Dividend Release of an Ad hoc announcement according to § 15 WpHG, transmitted by DGAP - a company of EquityStory AG. The issuer is solely responsible for the content of this announcement. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Düsseldorf, 12 December 2007. The ERGO Versicherungsgruppe AG plans to distribute a dividend of € 13.25 per share which adds up to a total dividend amount of € 1.0 billion. The Management Board today decided to submit a corresponding proposal to the Supervisory Board. Should all decisions be taken accordingly, the dividend is to be distributed the day after the Annual General Meeting on 5 May 2008. The strong increase of 728 % – following a dividend payment of € 1.60 per share and respectively a total amount of € 121 million in 2007 – results from ERGO’s active capital management. In this context, ERGO’s capital structure will be improved through the raising of hybrid capital, thus reducing cost of capital. The amount of hybrid capital raised is to be determined after the annual accounts have been submitted. The active capital management also allows ERGO to raise its long-term RoE target from 12% to 12 - 15%. The Management Board’s decision remains subject to the absence of unexpected loss events or capital market fluctuations which may, compared to previous planning, have a negative effect on the balance sheet profit of the company.
