JoWooD Productions Software AG announces results 2001
– Confirmation of Preliminary Results
– Turnover rose by 156%, Net Income after minorities reaching EUR 2.2 million
– Ambitious forecast just missed due to unique and one time events
JoWooD Productions Software AG, who is listed on the Vienna Stock Exchange, once
again recorded a strong increase in turnover in business year 2001. Sales rose
by 156% to EUR 41.6 million. EBIT reached EUR 0.1 million which is lower than
previous year. The Group’s net income after minorities amounted to EUR 2.2
million and thereby exceeded year 2000 result by 40%.The company however missed
its ambitious goals set out earlier in the year. This was primarily due to
cautious demand for the game “World War 3”, whose release was postponed to
October due to global events in September. Furthermore, the acquisition of the
German distribution company Leisuresoft last summer whose contribution in
overall turnover for 2001 was less than anticipated due to consolidation
effects. Additionally, due to liquidity problems of their biggest
customer(Libro) the distribution subsidiary Dynamic Systems had to post a
decrease in sales as well as of EBIT. All the events above are unique and one
time and will have no bearing on the business year 2002. In line with the
sector’s dynamic development JoWooD has forged ahead with further global
expansion. Whereas, in the previous year (2000) more than 85% of sales were
generated in the German speaking territory, in the period under review (2001)
the non-German speaking markets gained significant importance and amounted to
more than 40% of the total sales. Since going public in 2000, JoWooD has
succeeded in positioning itself as the leading publisher from the German
speaking territory.Based on the course of the current activities a strong rise
of sales and earnings is expected for business year 2002. The year 2002 will
thereby be marked by a strong and increased product policy. The funds generated
at the Initial Public Offering and invested in development projects will
strongly contribute to increasing the number of releases.
