Annual Shareholders’ Meeting lays foundation for further growth
At today’s ordinary annual shareholders’ meeting of JoWooD Productions Software
AG, all the proposed resolutions on the agenda were approved unanimously. These
included an adjustment to the authorized capital, a stock option program for
management, employees and group companies, and a share buy-back program.
The company will not pay a dividend for the financial year 2001, as profits will
be retained for investments designed to underpin the company’s continued
dynamic growth.
Optimistic outlook for 2002 based on attractive releases
As JoWooD CEO Andreas Tobler pointed out at the shareholders’ meeting, JoWooD
also expects its business to develop successfully during the financial year
2002. After an excellent start to the current financial year with “The Guild”
and “Cultures 2”, Q2 will also see attractive releases such as “HotelGiant” and
“IndustryGiant 2”. A total of some 30 new releases are scheduled for the current
financial year. By taking over the ongoing operations of Ravensburger
Interactive in mid May, JoWooD has also become by far the largest publisher of
computer games in the German-speaking world.
These expectations have been confirmed by the positive developments of Q1. Sales
were up by 102% in this period compared to last year’s figure to EUR 14
million. EBIT was EUR 0.2 million compared to -EUR 0.8 million in Q1 2001, thus
significantly exceeding all expectations.
