With a fleet of 266 modern container ships and a total transport capacity of 2.0 million TEU, Hapag-Lloyd is one of the world’s leading liner shipping companies. In the Liner Shipping segment, the Company has around 13,500 employees and 400 offices in 140 countries. Hapag-Lloyd has a container capacity of 2.9 million TEU – including one of the largest and most modern fleets of reefer containers. A total of 113 liner services worldwide ensure fast and reliable connections between more than 600 ports across the world. In the Terminal & Infrastructure segment, Hapag-Lloyd has stakes in 20 terminals in Europe, Latin America, the United States, India, and North Africa. The roughly 2,900 employees assigned to the Terminal & Infrastructure segment handle terminal-related activities and provide complementary logistics services at selected locations.

Chief Executive Officer (CEO)


Rolf Habben Jansen was born on 27 August 1966 in Spijkenisse near Rotterdam.


He graduated in Economics from the Erasmus University in Rotterdam in 1991. In the same year, he embarked on his career as a trainee at the former Dutch shipping company Royal Nedlloyd. He held a number of different positions both there and at the Swiss logistics firm Danzas, before the latter merged with DHL, the subsidiary of Deutsche Post AG.


From 2001, he was responsible at DHL for contract logistics for large parts of Europe, and from 2006 he was in charge of the services group’s 100 most important customers as Head of Global Customer Solutions. As Chief Executive Officer from 2009, he spent five years heading up the global logistics company Damco.


Rolf Habben Jansen was appointed member of the Hapag-Lloyd AG Executive Board in April 2014. He has been Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Hapag-Lloyd AG since July 2014.


Alongside his native language, Rolf Habben Jansen speaks German and English fluently.

Donya-Florence Amer was born on 6 June 1972.


After a banking apprenticeship, she completed the studies of business administration with a focus on finance and HR at the University of Cologne and the University of Berkeley. She is also an alumna of the Singularity University in Palo Alto.


Amer started her career in 1999 at IBM and over the next 17 years took on various national and international leadership positions, including in the areas of digital transformation and business analytics. In 2017, she joined Bosch and worked there for 5 years – first as Executive Vice President and member of the CIO Management Board, and later as co-founder and CEO of Bosch Climate Solutions. Amer has lived and worked in different countries and cultures, including the UK, USA and China. She is a member of the Hansgrohe Innovation Board.


Donya-Florence Amer was appointed to the Executive Board of Hapag-Lloyd AG as of 11 November 2021, and she is Chief Information Officer (CIO) since 1 February 2022. From 1 May 2022 she was additionally appointed Chief Human Resources Officer (CHRO).

Dheeraj Bhatia was born on 13 October 1973 in New Delhi, India.


Dheeraj started his career in the maritime industry 30 years ago and has seen the industry from both sides of a port. Starting as a Mariner, he has steadily progressed through various roles.


Over the years, he has held key management positions with renowned companies in Asia, the Middle East, Africa and North America, contributing significantly to their growth and success. Under Dheeraj’s leadership, companies have achieved remarkable results in terms of market expansion, revenue growth and operational efficiency. His visionary approach to strategic planning has been instrumental in positioning the organisations as industry leaders, always one step ahead of the competition.


Dheeraj joined Hapag-Lloyd as Managing Director and initially headed the Area India. Since 2018, he has been based in Dubai as Senior Managing Director of Region Middle East, Indian Subcontinent and Africa. He is also a member of Hapag-Lloyd’s Executive Committee.


Dheeraj Bhatia was appointed member of the executive board of Hapag-Lloyd AG in January 2024. He has also been appointed CEO of the Rotterdam-based Hapag-Lloyd Terminal Holding, which bundles Hapag-Lloyd AG’s infrastructure holdings.

Mark Frese, born on 27 April 1964, is married and has four children.


Frese holds a degree in economics and studied at Witten/Herdecke University as well as McGill University in Montreal, Canada.


He started his career in 1993 as an analyst at Finck & Co, a private bank in Düsseldorf. In 1994, he switched to Kaufhof Holding AG, where he held several management positions in finance and corporate strategy before becoming head of the Controlling & Projects unit in 2004. In 2009, Frese became head of the Planning & Controlling unit of Metro AG. He became the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) of Metro Cash & Carry in 2010, and was appointed CFO of the entire Metro Group in January 2012. After the company was split into two in 2017, Frese worked as the CFO of Metro’s successor company, Ceconomy AG, which operates the Media Markt and Saturn chains, the consumer-electronics and digital division of the Metro Group.


Mark Frese was appointed to the Executive Board of Hapag-Lloyd AG effective 25 November 2019 and became Chief Financial Officer (CFO) on 1 March 2020. From 1 May 2022 he was additionally appointed Chief Procurement Officer (CPO).

Dr. Maximilian Rothkopf was born on 13 June 1980, is married and has two children.


In 2004 Rothkopf achieved his master’s degree in business administration at the Ludwig-Maximilians-University of Munich (LMU) and completed his doctorate in economic sciences at the European Business School, Oestrich-Winkel, in 2008.

He started his career at the management consulting firm McKinsey & Company in 2005. There he was a member of the global Travel, Transport and Logistics (TTL) leadership team and became a Partner in 2014. During these years he has particularly provided advice to larger liner shipping companies, airlines and numerous other globally operating logistics companies.

Dr. Maximilian Rothkopf has been a member of Hapag-Lloyd AG’s Executive Board since May 2019, and took over the responsibility for the global shipping business as Chief Operating Officer (COO) as from 1 July 2019.
