The LLN-GY units will be built by the company's German navigationsystems subsidiary, Northrop Grumman LITEF. A photo accompanying this release is available at:http://media.globenewswire.com/noc/ The LLN-GY is a hybrid land navigation system based on a state-of-the-artfibre-optic gyro and micro-electromechanical (MEMS) accelerometers developedand manufactured by Northrop Grumman LITEF in Freiburg, Germany. Combininginertial sensors with an odometer and Global Positioning System (GPS) data, theLLN-GY provides accurate and uninterrupted position and attitude data forvehicle commanders and crews. Interfacing with the German battlefieldmanagement systems (BMS), the LLN-GY navigation system guarantees higherreliability and accuracy of actual position data within the BMS, compared to astand-alone GPS solution. The Boxer armoured transport vehicle is a highly mobile 8x8 wheeled vehiclewhose modular design enables a range of mission-specific applications fromtransporting troops and serving as a field ambulance to combat engineering ortactical communications. The Boxer is being built as the next generation ofarmoured vehicle for the armies of both Germany and the Netherlands under acooperative programme between the two nations.
