Parsytec realized marking of defective steel strip areas
Defect Marking Application available
Major step forward with respect to production decision intelligence
Aachen/Germany – 13 January 2005. Parsytec AG – the world’s leading supplier
of surface and web inspection systems for strip products – for the first ever
in the worldwide surface inspection-related market realized a solution for
marking defective areas on the strip. This solution is a major step with
respects to Parsytec’s approach of enriching its surface inspection system
with production decision intelligence solutions. The Defect Marking
Application will help steel producers to significantly optimize their entire
value chain.
The first installation of the Defect Marking Application was realized at
ThyssenKrupp Steel AG. The target of this application was to mark defective
parts on highest-quality automotive-exposed strip steel areas in order to
enable maximum material exploitation in the automotive manufacturing process.
The application developed and implemented bases on Parsytec’s leading-edge
espresso surface inspection systems. As they are 100% software-based, they
allow flexible ways of dealing with the generated comprehensive surface
quality data. In this specific case, the standard surface inspection software
was combined with Parsytec’s unique production decision intelligence platform
parsytec 5i.
During the production process, potential marking defects will be selected
electronically. Before and during the material processing, this selection will
be reviewed, validated, and relevant marking defects will be released. After
unwinding the material, the relevant defects will be marked automatically.
Parsytec’s Sales Director Michael Trunkhardt comments: “We are proud that our
unique product portfolio with espresso surface inspection on the one hand and
parsytec 5i on the other hand enables us to now realize such valuable
solutions for our customers. I am confident that we will be able to repeat
this or similar value propositions also for many other customers around the
globe.”
Parsytec AG is the world’s largest vendor of surface inspection systems:
Today, 10 of the Top 10 steel producers and 15 of the Top 20 paper producers
apply Parsytec products. With more than 350 installations worldwide, espresso
by Parsytec is the most advanced surface inspection system providing Parsytec
customers with reliable and comprehensive information about the relevant
surface defects at all production steps. The innovative software platform
parsytec 5i enables customers to easily create individual surface quality
yield management applications and integrates surface quality data with process
data. Parsytec is headquartered in Aachen, Germany, and maintains
subsidiaries in North America, Japan, Korea and China.
