In the BEKO IT sector, on the one hand the customer market is characterized by
a slight interest in investment in IT projects and on the other hand by cheap
offers from competitors. IT units in national and international
telecommunications companies are being centralized to replace external
resources with those internal resources freed up through the effects of
synergy. The costs incurred in the sector through restructuring and staff
reduction measures are still dearly putting pressure on profit levels but with
an upwards development will result in a significant increase in profit. The
considerable easing of tension on the IT labour market staff can be seen
through the low rate of staff turnover.
In the BEKO-help.com sector, the system management department represents a
stabile situation. In the consulting department, the issue of IT security is in
particular showing signs of future potential. However the prevailing economic
climate is forcing customers to postpone decisions further into the future.
In the BEKO Engineering sector, despite the tense market situation for
technical IT staff and planning and design, the positive turnover developments
of the past few years continued with an increase of 1% when compared with the
previous quarter. Profits were adversely affected by the adjustment for
personnel cost tangents relative to sales performance. The quiet periods
experienced between projects in Technical IT as well as planning and design
have been used for training measures. Since the start of the 2nd quarter,
requests for quotes from customers have increased in all departments so that
from today’s standpoint we can expect turnover and revenue developments to go
according to plan in the 3rd quarter at the latest.
In 2002, senior management is expecting turnover in the IT and BEKO-help.com
sectors to stagnate. The cost reducing program started last year in BEKO Ing.
P. Kotauczek GmbH will also be consistently continued in the year 2002.
